The European Social Marketing Association (ESMA)

ESMA was founded with the aim to connect social marketing people, research and practice at the European level.

By creating a community where people practicing and researching social marketing in Europe can connect with other colleagues to share experiences, knowledge, findings, methods, and practices ESMA endeavours to contribute to the development, evidence base and promotion of the social marketing discipline in Europe.

 ESMA aims:

  • to establish a community of Social Marketers in Europe
  • to enhance and facilitate knowledge and experience exchange in the different fields of social and behaviour change
  • to promote the use of social marketing as an approach to social change in Europe. 

We strive to fulfil our mission through a range of activities focused on:

  • Building a community that connects individuals who are working or wish to work in research and/or professionally in the field of social marketing in Slovenia. Members will share information, knowledge, approaches, research methods, and experiences with successful and unsuccessful behaviour change programs based on social marketing principles. The community will also work to establish the social marketing discipline in Slovenia according to the principles advocated by the European Social Marketing Association (ESMA) and the International Social Marketing Association (ISMA). Additionally, it will promote higher quality and effectiveness in behaviour change programs and social change initiatives in Slovenia.
  • Raising awareness about the usefulness of the social marketing approach in achieving positive social change and encouraging the practical application of social marketing approaches in various societal areas.
  • Establishing a database of good practice examples.
  • Advocating for critical social marketing.
  • Influencing the strategic planning and implementation of behaviour change programs and ensuring their consistent evaluation.
  • Promoting social marketing thinking at all levels of organizations striving to achieve behavioural changes and work towards a more inclusive, equitable, tolerant, healthy, and sustainable society.

The National Social Marketing Centre (NSMC)

The NSMC is the centre of excellence for social marketing and behaviour change based in the UK. We operate worldwide from our offices in the UK and Slovenia.

 Our mission is to maximise the effectiveness of behaviour change programmes across the globe.

 We do this by working directly with clients and by promoting and sharing best practice. We are renowned for the quality of our training courses.

University of Ljubljana

The Faculty of Social Sciences (FDV) is well known for its interdisciplinary study programmes, research activities and high-quality teaching, as well as many curricular and extra-curricular activities.
